A sentence can change when it moves from the language we first heard it in to the language we use to explain it. The pause, the teasing, the tenderness may still be there, but not quite in the same place. I write these stories and essays in Malayalam because that is where I want their voices to settle.
A language close to home
In Kerala, Malayalam travels through ordinary scenes: a conversation at a bus stop, rain beginning before the clothes are brought in, someone calling from the next room. Those details do not need to be grand to matter. Writing in Malayalam lets a story stay near the sounds and turns of speech that gave it life.
More than one kind of writing
This publication can hold a short story one week and a personal essay the next. They may begin with different questions, but both deserve room to unfold in their own way. I want the Malayalam writing to remain the center, rather than a translation or an introduction to something else.
A place to return to
Readers may arrive for one piece and come back for another; some may also find a vlog link beside a related post. The formats can sit together without competing for attention. The simple promise is that the writing will be here in Malayalam, ready to read at its own pace.
